Feather Cupcakes

Feather Cupcakes

I made the feathers with fondant. I started with plain white and then stuck a toothpick in food coloring gel and then smeared it in a straight line in various places down the fondant. I repeated this with various colors. Then I freehand cut the shape of a feather in various sizes. Once I got the different sizes, I used a shaping tool to make the line down the middle and then a different tool to make various cuts on each side in different lengths and widths.

I have many art hobbies.

I've enjoyed all kinds of art since I was a little kid. I had tons of art sets with watercolor, acrylic and pastel paints. I used to draw hundreds of fashion ideas and even wrote short stories!

Painting is something I still love doing. I'm always working on improving my skills. Recently, I've started learning more watercolor techniques because I want to utilize that skill in my baking as well.

Digital art is something I started playing around with back in the MySpace days. I would spend hours editing html to make different layouts. Then when I was in college I decided to make media design my concentration and minored in digital art and design.

Magazine clippings.

The assignment was to come up with an original statement and then use magazine typography to make it. We then scanned it into photoshop to make any adjustments we wanted.

I started doing this thing in college where I'd take a photo when I was witnessing a mass amount of colors in one eyeshot. I would take those images, scan them into the computer and then pull out color pixels I loved.

They chose my brochure design to go in the writing center. The logo with the three heads isn't mine though, thats someone else's from the class'.

I drew this serif R on regular paper with a pencil (I think). Then scanned it in and edited the sketch marks a bit.
